Are you interested in woodworking and at least 18 years old? If so, the Mason Dixon Woodworkers might just be the club for you.
The club meets bimonthly and at our meetings members can bring their current project and seek advice, show their finished projects, attend a short talk on a topic of interest and last, but not least, win a door prize. In addition, the club organizes several workshops throughout the year where members get “hands on” instruction on specialized techniques, and it operates a well-equipped workshop where members produce toys for local organizations to distribute to disadvantaged kids. It also organizes field trips to operations such as a saw mill, other woodworking shops, machine shops, etc., and maintains a small video library as well as tool crib where members can borrow tools.
In the summertime we get together with family and friends for a potluck picnic, and in in the late fall, an end of the year banquet at the VFW.
Club information
Meetings are at 7:30 pm at the Delmar VFW, 200 W State Street, Delmar, MD 19940, on the third Thursday of January, March, May, and September. The annual picnic is in July, and the annual banquet is in November. The club sponsors several workshops during the year. These workshops focus on building woodworking skills and fabricating various wooden objects [cutting boards, boxes, trays, etc.]. They are normally scheduled for weekends in months when there are no meetings. The club also sponsors an effort to fabricate toys for needy children which are distributed just prior to Christmas. The toy making workshop operates on Tuesday and Wednesday and from 9 am to 4 pm and is located at Blind Industries, 1303 Old Ocean City Rd., in Salisbury.
